Finally, someone said it: Veep was not some brilliant satire – just another run-of-the-mill sitcom where people talk extra fast.

Ralph Eads: Thanks for this comment. As I said in the review, I've never been able to endure a whole episode of Veep, so I don't know that I'm being fair to Louis-Dreyfus, or, indeed, to the show's writers. You've obviously seen much more of the show than I have. But, as I tried to indicate in the review, Louis-Dreyfus' acting is effective, that is, it suits the lines and the moment, but I can't always sort out what she's striving to do, reveal the character or glide by on how earnestly she loves to perform. Eagerness and talent can overlap, but they shouldn't exert the same force.
