Admittedly, I favor Spielberg's version of The Color Purple (1985) over the second film adaptation, but mainly because I’m not too big on musicals. And I agree that some dancing scenes (even though they were fantastic) were overwhelming and didn’t fully align with the message or storyline. Yet, the movie offered a refreshing take with gorgeous visuals emphasizing Celie’s empowering life journey. This was a good take!!
