I might have to overcome my general aversion to horror movies and go see this one. The question that makes me pause, though, is that I've read a lot of people who say the movie is "a look at what Gen Z is like" or something along those lines. Is this really true? Were the filmmakers attempting to create a workable, reasonable characterization of a whole generation? Or were they writing individual characters? I really don't know. It seems as though Gen Z gets stereotyped by the older generations to an inordinate degree. But I haven't yet heard any reviewer talk about the characters without implying that they are stand-ins for their entire age cohort.
I've read where the script does intend some sort of rough comment on Gen Z. It features stereotypes, and aside from the one older character, no one is let off. That said, it's a very faint "critique", mostly comical jabs, and doesn't even pretend to be sociologically grounded. It's a feature of the script, but not its bedrock, which is mostly comic horror. By the end the movie doesn't have much sting. So, I didn't feel any great injustice had been done. It's too much silly fun to get worked up about. I'm not up for horror movies, either, but I must say this one has far more jolts than dread, and it's not especially gory. I can't promise you a good time. I understand your reluctance. But it's not gross or even particularly sensational. Actually, you'll laugh a lot at the Gen Z-speak. A lot of it is cleverly written.
