I am convinced the film can’t be as beautifully to watch as this was to read; but I’ll give it a look see.

Mercedes, thanks for your nice words about my writing, but I do urge you to see the movie. It's maybe even more painful than I've spelled out, but by the end you'll understand the price everyone has paid for that rigid time period's strictures and hypocrisies. The director James Gray has been very brave. He takes the Jewish community seriously to task for heartless parenting, and the society for dumb, rote, soulless educating. It's a very personal movie, but people across the society, and students of history, can readily understand how widely it applies. Autobiographical movies don't often achieve this sort of reach, while keeping their emotional sting. You'll finish watching it soberly thinking, not shedding cheaply wrung tears.

You are more than kind, good sir! Thanks very much for these generous words. It's not an easy movie to explain and getting across its central questions was important. I'm glad I seem to have pulled it off. Be well.

Very beautifully written Ivan.

Your descriptions just flow into well-constructed questions for us to ponder.

Excellent kind sir!
